Seven Monasteries Devoted To Archangel Saint Michael / Part IV - Monastery Sacra di San Michele - Piedmont - Italy

Our Q & A Continues With Peter Arnold, Christian Fiction Suspense Thriller Author, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" (NEW eBook Debuted, July 2, 2024)

Heaven's Doorway Press - Q & A (#23) with author, Peter Arnold:

Question: Peter, we continue today with our conversation on the seven monasteries devoted to the Archangel Saint Michael.  What insight can you share with us about the fourth stop, "Sacra di San Michele" in the Piedmont area of Italy?

"As you can see above, the ancient monastery, 'Sacra di San Michele' is reminiscent of a scene from 'Lord of the Rings,' an ethereal, enigmatic towering sacred citadel.  Not only for J.R.R. Tolkien fans, but for Umberto Eco aficionados, (author of 'The Name of the Rose),' reportedly based the setting of his novel's monastery after a visit to "Sacra di San Michele.'"

Question: Peter, is it true the pinnacle of 'Sacra di San Michele," is a miracle by its nature according to legend?

"Similar to other famous edifices motivated by divinely inspired visions, Saint John Vincent whose devotion to Archangel Saint Michael, urged him to build on the mountain.  Miraculously, even the building materials he collected were somehow mystically transported to the top of Mount Pirchiriano.  The edifice monumentally expanded under the Benedictine Order for hundreds of years."

Question: What other 'secrets' does the "Sacra di San Michele" hold?

"The secrets are hidden eternally within its sacred walls.  However, there are beautiful treasures to behold.  There was a notable scriptorium which produced magnificent rare sacred manuscripts.  One of the most famous, was created in 1315, 'The Breviary of San Michele della Chiusa.'

Seven Monasteries Devoted To Archangel Saint Michael / Part III - Monastery Mont Saint-Michele - Normandy. - France

Our Q & A Continues With Peter Arnold, Christian Fiction Suspense Thriller Author, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" (NEW eBook Debuted, July 2, 2024)

Heaven's Doorway Press - Q & A (#22) with author, Peter Arnold:

Question: Peter, we continue today with our conversation on the seven monasteries devoted to the Archangel Saint Michael.  What insight can you share with us about the third stop, "Mont Saint-Michel" in Normandy, France?

"Pure monastic spectacle! Once you can ascend to the "heavenly sacred abbey' away from the hectic and crowded tourist village below, you are immediately in another realm.  Mont Saint-Michel is a jewel in the pilgrimage crown.  In my eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story,' a major mystical event culminates there in the battle between 'the 'Sons of Light vs the Sons of Darkness.' Some of the pictures below stir the imagination:

Question: There's a dark past with Mont Saint-Michel and a famous 19th century author interceded.  Who was it?

"During the 19th century, Mont Saint-Michel became a prison overshadowed by the darkness of war.  The antithesis of spiritual peace which graced the abbey walls for hundreds of years was gravely threatened.  Then a miracle occurred when novelist, Victor Hugo, writer of the monumental opus, 'Les Misérables,' convinced Napoleon to move the political prisoners to another location."

Question: It is as if Saint Michael the Archangel defended the abbey from battle?

"Well, there was another spiritual battle during WWII when the German forces invaded France and subsequently returned darkness upon Mont Saint-Michel by utilizing it as a prison once again.  Thank goodness, evil was overcome and decades later, the Benedictine Order aided by the prayers of Saint Michael the Archangel returned sanctity to the abbey."

Seven Monasteries Devoted To Archangel Saint Michael / Part I - Monastery Skellig Michael Ireland / Saint Michael's Mount Cornwall

Our Q & A Continues With Peter Arnold, Christian Fiction Suspense Thriller Author, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" (NEW eBook Debuted, July 2, 2024)

Heaven's Doorway Press - Q & A (#21) with author, Peter Arnold:

Question: Peter, in the past, we discussed the monastery of Mont Saint-Michel, tell us more about the 'swath' of other monasteries mysteriously connected to the Saint Michael, the Archangel.  Are they on your "pilgrimage bucket list'?

"Yes indeed, there's a group of seven monasteries or sacred sites geographically beginning in Ireland and ending in Jerusalem.  It's as if Saint Michael the Archangel cut a path on Earth with his sword inspiring holy patrons to build these enigmatic edifices over the last two millennia.

The first stop is 'Skellig Michael,' located on a remote island off the coast of Ireland. It was built between the sixth and eighth centuries and now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to the harsh winter conditions, it is accessible only during the summer months.

The second stop is 'Saint Michael's Mount,' off the coast of Cornwall, England.  It shares an association with the Benedictine order of Mont Saint-Michel near Normandy, France.  Both monasteries geographically are set amid a panoramic tidal basin with accessibility during low tide. Saint Michael's Mount may have began its monastic life in the 8th century through the 12th centuries.  During the 11th century, Pope Gregory granted indulgences to pilgrims who visited the sacred site.  Today, there is a chapel within the 11th century castle owned by the St. Aubyn family (dating back to its initial ancestral ownership when the mount was sold in 1659).

The Holy Grail Search / 35th Anniversary of Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade / Petra / Frankincense / Biblical Archaeology

Our Q & A Continues With Peter Arnold, Christian Fiction Suspense Thriller Author, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" ( NEW eBook Debuted, July 2, 2024 )

Heaven's Doorway Press - Q & A (#20) with author, Peter Arnold:

Question: Peter, it's been 35 years since the worldwide release of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." In your forthcoming eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story, your lead character, Michael is summoned to Petra, why does the "Red Rose City" hold such fascination with us?

"Yes, there is an interesting yearning for a return to classic action adventure suspense fantasy with a biblical archaeology theme.  In the film, 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,' it was the search for the lost 'Holy Grail.'

The film released Memorial Day Weekend in 1989 was the highest grossing film globally of the year. Petra in Jordan, also known as the 'Red Rose City' became iconic for millions who saw the film and soon placed it as a pilgrimage site visit on their 'bucket list.'  The city was an important trade route with frankincense being a huge commodity.  I thought it would be interesting to explore in the eBook narrative, 'Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story.'   Could one of the three Magi king's entourage have loaded a chest of frankincense from Petra for camel caravan transport to Bethlehem?"

Four Living Creatures Gospels / Revelation / Old Testament Foreshadowings / Mystical Vision - Christian / Dead Sea War Scroll

Our Q & A Continues With Peter Arnold, Christian Fiction Suspense Thriller Author, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" ( NEW eBook Debuted, July 2, 2024 )

Heaven's Doorway Press - Q & A (#19) with author, Peter Arnold:

Question: Peter, have you noted any particular insights from the Old Testament and New Testament you wish to share (a.k.a., foreshadowings):

"Yes, I believe an amazing mystical foreshadowing of 'The Gospels,' from the Old Testament, Book of Ezekiel (10:14) describes the cherubim, 'Each had four faces: the first face was that of an ox, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.'  In the New Testament, Book of Revelation (4:7) describes the four living creatures around the throne,'The first creature resembled a lion, the second like a calf, the third had a face like that of a human being and the fourth looked like an eagle in flight.'  The living creatures have now been connected with the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, becoming their symbols (the wall mosaics below are courtesy of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Austin, Texas):

(Mosaic above: Gospel of Mathew, left and Gospel of Mark, right)

(Mosaic above: Gospel of Luke, left and Gospel of John, right)

Question: Have you seen "foreshadowings' in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

"Yes, there is an interesting foreshadowing of the Messiah (anointed figure) in Dead Sea Scroll 4Q521 referred as, "The Messianic Apocalypse," found in Cave 4 near Qumran.  Detailed in the pic below (courtesy of Wikipedia) is a translation of the two larger fragments by Jean Strarcky with proposed revisions by Emile Puech."

"It's fascinating this Dead Sea Scroll, 4Q521, 'makes a connection with the healing ministry of the Messiah,'  Scholars have also found a 'striking comparison' with Luke 7:22 about raising the dead."

Question: Peter, in your eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story," the narrative revolves around the mystery of the "War Scroll" found in Qumran, Cave 1.  Is there a particular passage in the scroll which intrigues you?

"The cosmic battle between the 'Sons of Light vs the Sons of Darkness' is enigmatic.  Fascinating translation of some of the ancient "War Scroll', 'each side will fight alongside angelic hosts and supernatural beings and final victory is achieved by the Sons of Light directly by the hand of God.'"
