Actors As Jesus Christ Since 2001 - Jonathan Roumie THE CHOSEN - Jim Caviezel - Diego Morgado - Cliff Curtis - Jaakko Ohtonen

 

Just after the start of the new millennium, year 2001, we reflect on the actors and their films or series, who have had the courage to play our, Lord Jesus Christ.  Who is your favorite? 

First, let's go back to 2004 with the film, "The Passion of Christ," starring Jim Caviezel who was relatively unknown then. Here is a wikipedia link. 

Now, there is controversy, as actor, Jaakko Ohtonen has been cast to replace Jim Caviezel in the forthcoming sequel, "The Resurrection of Jesus Christ," directed by Mel Gibson, coming in May, 2027. Shouldn't we be supportive as all the other actors were unknown?  Jim Caviezel was mysteriously 33 years old when he played Jesus Christ . . . now decades have passed. What is your opinion?

Now, we turn to Jonathan Roumie, who rose to global fame in the groundbreaking series, "The Chosen," which began as a crowdfunded project helmed by creator and director, Dallas Jenkins.

Now, let's turn to the film, Risen (2016), whose producers cast, Cliff Curtis in the role of Jesus Christ.  It was a bold casting decision. Shouldn't grace in the role be considered?

Now, we turn to the film, "Son of God," (2014) starring Diogo Morgado as Jesus Christ, produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.

We have been blessed with all the above actors who have given remarkable performances. We must support all who have the courage and are called to proclaim, Jesus Christ as Savior, Redeemer and Messiah to the world. What are your thoughts?

Question: Peter, in your eBook, the protagonist, Michael, eventually is summoned to the Byzantine monastery of Vatopedi and Kristen (in disguise) to the Stavronikita monastery on the ancient Athos peninsula in Greece.  What attracted you to these monasteries? 

"As you can see from the pics below, the monasteries surrounding Mount Athos are nearly frozen in time. They are a 'hidden kingdom' of incredibly mystical and divinely spiritual edifices providing a dramatic locale for the narrative to unfold."

Question: When you're too tired to read, do you enjoy listening to audiobooks?

"One of my favorite audio 'go-to' choices is the 'Word of Promise" audio Bible. It's a monumental work with over 500 actors, a 60-piece orchestra incredible sound SFX and the best part of all, Jim Caviezel plays the voice of Jesus. I love listening to the Book of Revelation (especially at the beginning when the ascended Jesus is speaking to the seven churches).  I'm grateful to find it on youTube." Click here for a sample.
