Question: Peter, we continue today with our conversation on the seven monasteries devoted to the Archangel Saint Michael.  What insight can you share with us about the fifth stop, "Sanctuary of Monte Sant' Angelo sul Gargano" in the Foggia province of Italy?

"The most interesting insight about this monastery stop, it resides in a cave where apparitions of Archangel Saint Michael appeared in 490 to the Bishop of Sipontum.   During this first appearance (in Western Europe) of Archangel Saint Michael, he promised protection against the Neopolitan pagans if a sanctuary was built utilizing the cave."

"On the eve of a battle against the invaders, Archangel Saint Michael appeared on the mountain (Mount Gargano) with a flaming sword and protection was given against the Greek pagans. "

"Pope Gelasius (reigned 492 - 496) declared a Basilica to be built enclosing the cave space. Over the centuries, it became a monumental pilgrimage destination and in 2011 became an official UNESCO World Heritage Site."

Question: Peter, what is it about the former "Vatican Secret Archives" that captures our imaginations?

"As you may now know, it has been renamed the 'Vatican Apostolic Archive,' by Pope Francis (October, 2019), opening up the archive to legitimate academic and professional scholars with credentials approved in advance. The Pope owns the archive and it is passed down to the next Pope in succession as 'shepherd of the archive.'  Mainstream popular fiction authors such as Dan Brown, have stirred the public's interest to seek possible hidden documents and relics to solve 'long-standing' mysteries (certain documents still remain 'classified').  Enjoy the following pics below:

Question: What are some of the exceedingly rare and noteworthy documents in the Vatican Apostolic Archive?

"Some of the rarest include, Henry VIII of England's request for a marriage annulment, a handwritten transcript of the trial of Galileo for heresy, and letters from Michelangelo complaining he had not been paid for work on the Sistine Chapel."

Question:  In your eBook,"Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" the protagonist Michael falls in love with Kristen, a museum curator of Greek and Roman antiquities (the Getty Museum in Malibu is hinted as the location).  Why is the public so captivated by museum curators?

"Yes, there is a fascination. The beauty of the arts, design and research are certainly alluring. Question: Peter, do you find inspiration in nature?

"Oh yes, it is imperative for me to go out on a nature walk as much as possible to 'open the flow.' Usually, God willing, I'll walk in the morning with the promise of the day ahead. By a silent prayer walk, anxiety soon melts away and I begin to become 'one' with nature,  My eyes will open to staggering beauty (which I hope to share with the world).  Here are a few pics to inspire you to get out, walk and pray for others along the way. Don't forget to look up and notice the sky and the winged creatures flying by."

Question: Do you like to write after your nature-prayer walks?  

"Yes, as 'co-creator,' with the holy spirit, I'm more open to new paths of creativity. For me, it's the most productive time. My mind is calm and I can engage new story development ideas."

Question: Saint Francis of Assisi had a mystical 'oneness' with nature. Does he inspire you?

"My goodness, how blessed are we with so many saints as role models! Saint Francis of course, the patron namesake saint of Pope Francis."  Enjoy the following pics

Question: Saint Francis of Assisi was considered to be a mystic with visions of angels.  Have you seen the famous paintings of his angelic encounters?

"Yes, here are some of the oil paintings.  The first one is by the artist, Francisco Ribalta.  The second painting by Caravaggio."
