Question: Peter, have you noted any particular insights from the Old Testament and New Testament you wish to share (a.k.a., foreshadowings):

"Yes, I believe an amazing mystical foreshadowing of 'The Gospels,' from the Old Testament, Book of Ezekiel (10:14) describes the cherubim, 'Each had four faces: the first face was that of an ox, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.'  In the New Testament, Book of Revelation (4:7) describes the four living creatures around the throne,'The first creature resembled a lion, the second like a calf, the third had a face like that of a human being and the fourth looked like an eagle in flight.'  The living creatures have now been connected with the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, becoming their symbols (the wall mosaics below are courtesy of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Austin, Texas):

Question: Have you seen "foreshadowings' in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

"Yes, there is an interesting foreshadowing of the Messiah (anointed figure) in Dead Sea Scroll 4Q521 referred as, "The Messianic Apocalypse," found in Cave 4 near Qumran.  Detailed in the pic below (courtesy of Wikipedia) is a translation of the two larger fragments by Jean Strarcky with proposed revisions by Emile Puech."

"It's fascinating this Dead Sea Scroll, 4Q521, 'makes a connection with the healing ministry of the Messiah,'  Scholars have also found a 'striking comparison' with Luke 7:22 about raising the dead."

Question: Peter, in your eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story," the narrative revolves around the mystery of the "War Scroll" found in Qumran, Cave 1.  Is there a particular passage in the scroll which intrigues you?

"The cosmic battle between the 'Sons of Light vs the Sons of Darkness' is enigmatic.  Fascinating translation of some of the ancient "War Scroll', 'each side will fight alongside angelic hosts and supernatural beings and final victory is achieved by the Sons of Light directly by the hand of God.'"

Question: Peter, why did you choose the Mont Saint-Michel abbey as a location setting in your eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story"?

"The ancient abbey of Mont Saint-Michel near Normandy, France, is enigmatic and immediately leads one to imagine sacred splendor.  The architecture is jaw-dropping as you can see by the pics below:

"Mont Saint-Michel captures the imagination with endless possible stories.  You will enjoy the storyline in "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story" as the abbey provides a fitting crescendo for the first book in the "trilogy within a trilogy"series. Today, there is a small contingent of monks who manage the abbey.  They are able to maintain sanctity despite the millions of tourists which descend upon Mont Saint-Michel every year."

Question: Peter, your book features mystical encounters with the angels.  Do you often pray to your guardian angel?  

"Great question! Did you know Mont Saint-Michel is named for the Archangel Michael? You can call upon your guardian angel and Saint Michael the Archangel when you become fearful as he is one of the seven archangels around the throne of God. The prayer to Saint Michael is essential and can provide comfort. Never forget, your guardian angel is with you!"

"A most blessed 'Feast of the Ascension" everyone!"

Question: Peter, in your eBook, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story," you embrace the mystical theme of 'the lion and the lamb,' what intrigues you most about the metaphor?

"Our Lord Jesus Christ was the perfect spotless sacrificial lamb, yet in the meekness of this gentle creature is the foreshadowing of the 'Lion of Judah,' strength in obedience to his paschal mission. Saint Augustine in one of his sermons (#375A),'the lion stands for Christ resurrected, the lamb for Christ's sacrifice', enduring death as a lamb, yet devouring death as a lion."

There is a beautiful Christian praise song, called the "Lion and the Lamb" by Leeland with extraordinary lyrics!

In this pic below, is a faint mystical apparition of the 'Lion and the Lamb' on the marble floor before the tabernacle at Saint Monica's Catholic Community Church in California.  Can you see the lamb?  Once you locate the lamb, then look directly above adjacent (almost hugging) is a profile of a majestic lion's head! 

Question, Why did you choose the main title of your book, "Armor of Light"?

"Let us cast off the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." (Romans 13:11)  Saint Paul also proclaims, "Put on the armor of God; then you will be able to stand firm when the worst happens; you will fulfill all your duties and hold your ground.  Stand firm and let truth be a belt around your waist."

"I love the sacred armor: 'Put round you the belt of truth; put on the breastplate of righteousness; for shoes wear zeal for the Gospel of peace; take up the shield of faith to extinguish all the burning arrows of the evil one; take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.' Also, 'Clothe us with the weapons of light and unite us under the one banner of love, that we may receive our eternal reward after the battle of earthly life.'"

"During these dark times having emerged from the pandemic, wars and ongoing threat of climate change, the "Armor of Light" is essential in our earthly battle as sons and daughters of the light."

Heaven's Doorway Press sat down with Peter Arnold, author of "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story," the Christian angelic mystical suspense thriller (eBook series).

Question: Peter, what inspired you to write, "Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story"?

"Chunks of the story idea would evolve quite unexpectedly at times. Several years ago, I was in the back of a Los Angeles Metro Rapid bus heading to work when I saw a vision of angel in a hoodie come on board. I thought wouldn't it be cool to be summoned to distant land for the greater good. All expenses paid of course! With my fascination for ancient wax-sealed parchment letters, I was imagining the angel to drop one on my lap. So that's when it all began. Never underestimate when you receive an inspiring visionary gift."

Question: How long did it take you to finish the manuscript? 

"It took nearly five years to complete, 'Armor of Light: A Trilogy Story.' During the dark years of the pandemic, the story expanded with my longing for hope and escape.  I studied near death experiences especially those who visited heavenly realms as well as embracing my own spiritually transformative experiences.  I thought, these must be shared, perhaps in a work of fiction. I also studied the Dead Sea scrolls, angelology and "The Liturgy of the Hours." 

Question: Do you have a favorite place to write?

"Yes, for me a room with a view of nature, to feel the oneness of God. It opens up the grace of the creative process as co-creators. Currently, I'm now in Austin, with views of the verdant tree tops teaming with life amidst a big magnificent blue sky with puffy white angelic-shaped clouds passing by. It's also quiet here in the 'tree-house,' a perfect writer's retreat. Oh, don't forget mindful thankfulness with countless mugs of black and green tea."

Question: What tips can you pass along to aspiring writers?

"Everyone has a story to tell. Share your story with the world. Keep persevering through the writer's blocks and any outside negativity.  Don't get bogged down by perfection, this is why God gave us good and patient editors!"
